THINGS TO SEE AND DO
Nalagarh is an excellent place to laze about and indulge your taste for luxury, or walk around to explore the green surrounds.
Fruitful Walks
Stroll through the 20 acres of royal orchards and forests attached to the Nalagarh Fort. The trees are weighed down by kinoos, and the citrusy fragrance pervades the air. The fruit also attracts lots of birds, so you are bound to spot a few beauties.
Water Works
Nalagarh has many options for some waterside fun – the River Gambar and Sutlej Barrage are brimming with fish, the Ropar Boat Club has paddle and row boats, and the Gobind Sagar is a man-made resevoir formed by river waters trapped by the Bhakra Nangal Dam.
WHERE TO STAY AND EAT
Given its plush decor and luxurious setting, it’s difficult to imagine that Nalagarh Heritage Resort (Tel: 01795-223009, 223179; Tariff: ₹4,500-9,500) was once in ruins. Lounge around in the lawns and survey the world from a hammock.
Your only eating option is the Fort, and the delicacies served in regal surroundings make for a special dining experience. The menu offers everything from from traditional Indian to Italian.
