Once only considered a getaway from Shimla, Kufri is now a wonderful tourist destination in its own right and a ski resort to boot.

THINGS TO SEE AND DO

Mahasu Peak is where most of the action lies in Kufri. You can take horse rides or yak rides here or at Deshu Peak. A short walk downhill from Mahasu Peak leads to Kufri Fun World, which claims to have the world’s highest go-karting track.Travellers can also pay a visit to the Jai Bhima Kali Mata Temple. Kufri’s name comes from the ‘Kufrpond located here.

In the Chini Bungalow area, you can visit the Himalayan Nature Park (closed on Mondays) which houses the barking deer, Tibetan wolf, snow leopard, bear, among other animals. Feeding times are between 10.00am and 4.00pm. Not far from the nature park is the Indira Tourist Park where you can play some video games and visit their bar and café. You can also get yourself photographed in Himachali attire here for a small fee.

The best place to shop in Kufri is the Himachal Handloom Emporium where you can pick up souvenirs along with some delicious fruit wine.
