If you find those long flying hours utterly annoying with no access to phone services or internet, don’t fret. Things may change very soon! The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) recently gave approval for in-flight connectivity which means you can have on-board access to internet and mobile phones. While this nod comes after almost three years after the aviation ministry floated the idea, airlines can offer these services once they clear certain security norms.

Internet can be provided once the plane taxies and personal electronic devices put on flight mode, mobile services will be allowed when the aircraft flies above an altitude of 3000 meters. However, no Indian airline services have yet said when they will offer these services. Most foreign airlines provide in-flight connectivity but have had to switch off the services when in Indian airspace.
