Mongolian felt slippers

Indigenous goods are scarce in Mongolia and the only brand they have come up with is ‘Chingis’ (Chingis Beer, The Chingis Hotel, Chingis Tours…). But how much can you do with an economy of grass and sheep? Well, they do what they can: I had many fine meals of lamb and bought a somewhat disturbing miniature of naked shepherd boys doing many things with ewes. Can’t show you that though. So here’s another souvenir, a pair of thick felt slippers. Actually this slightly elfin model belongs to the wife. Mine are large and fierce. I call them Changezi chappals.
