The one-of-its-kind Daroji Sloth Bear Sanctuary is in Hampi’s neighbourhood. The Jungle Lodges’ inspired Sloth Bear Resort covers both these attractive destinations of Karnataka. The resort sprawls over 33 acres adjacent to the reserve, its 22 thatched-roof cottages pleasingly simple and comfortable. Watch out, though – the better-looking website going by its name appears to be run by a private tour operator. SBR is also good value for money because everything, including all meals, a jeep safari and entrance to the sanctuary, camera fees and taxes, as well as a visit or two to Hampi (6km, half hour) is included in the tariff. Hospet, the nearest railway station, is only 13km or 40 minutes away by road.
