Budget hotel: Ginger, Haridwar

The Smart Basic brand of budget hotels started by Indian Hotels (owners also of Taj hotels) in Bangalore in 2004 is known as Ginger. In Ginger, Haridwar, rooms are air-conditioned and fitted with wall-mounted flat-screen TVs, mini-fridge, mini-bar and tea/coffee makers. The staff is minimal. Guests check in at a kiosk, there’s no room service.
