The serene environment of the Santichaiprakarn Park, with a view of Chao Phraya river, comes alive to the sound of jazz this Friday to Sunday (December 19 to 21, 2014), with a host of noted international artistes performing. The event is being organised by the Tourism Authority of Thailand, and it is part of the celebrations for the 87th birthday of King Bhumibol Adulyadej. The birthday was on December 5, 2014. The Bangkok Jazz Night by the River pays tribute to the king, who is also “an accomplished jazz musician and composer”, says TAT. On the sidelines of the event, an exhibition will depict royal achievements and the king’s talent as a jazz musician and composer. Among the local and international musicians slated to perform at the event are Cheryl Hayes (US), Alexander Sergeenko (Russia), William Wait (US), Kuzu Suzuki (Japan) and Mark Hodgkins (UK). Thai artistes includes Kong Saharat, Mariam B5, ETC., Jennifer Kim and Koh Mr Saxman. The highlight of the jazz fest is a performance by Chanté Moore (US), an award-winning American R&B and jazz singer and songwriter. Timings: 5pm to 9pm. Entry free.
