Hesitant about going to the ZEE Jaipur Literature Festival 2019 especially after how crowded it got last
Neil Gaiman has officially announced on Twitter that he will be attending the ZEE Jaipur Literature Festival in 2019, which will be held between the 24th and 28th of January. Gaiman was invited to the event at the closing ceremony of the 2018 edition by Festival co-Director William Dalrymple.
Described as the Kumbh of Literature, the JLF is a sumptuous feast of ideas. Giving a platform to speakers of various nationalities, cultures, and backgrounds, the festival aims to engage its audience in thoughtful debate and dialogue.
The list includes Indian and International speakers such as Amy Tan of the Joy Luck Club, Helen Fielding who gave us the inimitable Bridget Jones’ Diary, and Those Pricey Thakur Girls author Anuja Chauhan. The scope widens to include names such as Amish Tripathi, Anthony Horowitz, Gurcharan Das, Jeet Thayil, Sudha Murthy, and more.

JLF goes beyond traditional novelists and authors to include film makers, screenwriters and journalists as well, including Anurag Kashyap, Mira Nair, Nandita Das, among others. Set in the Pink city, Jaipur, against the backdrop of state’s cultural and heritage, the festival promises to invoke new ideas and thoughts.
They haven’t yet announced the complete lineup for the event in 2019 yet, but with a start such as Neil Gaiman, we sure are hopeful.
Getting There: The event will take place in the Diggi Palace in Jaipur. To get to the city, there are regular flights from the major metropolitan around the country. Trains are also regularly available.
