Eat and drink at the grand table of the Nizams
March 22, 2017
The iconic Taj Falaknuma Palace in Hyderabad has drawn up an exclusive dining experience for connoisseurs of good food with its ‘The 101 Food & Wine Dinner’, curated by the two-Michelin star Chef Srijith Gopinathan of Taj’s Campton Place Restaurant in San Francisco, US.
To be held over Mar 24-26, 2017, it will be a one-off experience where you will find international wine experts join Chef Srijith to create vine and food tastings that meld together the finish of fine international wines with the inventive fusion flavours of Chef Srijith’s Californian-Indian cuisine.
Wine cognoscenti, including Keith Edgar, Jancis Robinson MW, Fiona Beckett, Liam Steevenson MW, Elyse Lambert, and Count John Salvi MW will lend their expert knowledge to guide guests on their own culinary journey, which also includes breakfasts based on the royal menus passed down through households, horse carriage rides in the Palace’s vintage buggies, champagne receptions, croquet on the lawns and historical tours of the Palace and the city of Nizams.
The weekend will culminate in a dinner hosted at the 101-seat dining table, once party to the dinners of Nizams, and now reserved for exclusive dinner events at the hotel. Chef Srijith will present a menu distinctive in its re-imagining of clean Californian cuisine with a touch of Indian flavour profiling from the multitude of regional dishes. This menu, co-created with in-house superstar Executive Chef Sajesh Nair, will use specific highlights from Hyderabadi cuisine to strongly link the flavours of the weekend with the sights and sounds of the terroir.
