Literature and star authors might not be the only reason that you’d want to go to the Zee Jaipur Literature Festival (January 19-23; japurliteraturefestival.org). This year there’s going to be a glittering array of musical performers at the festival as well. You can look forward to performances from the British star singer/songwriter Beth Orton and the ever popular Raghu Dixit Project. Also on the bill this year are the Aga Khan Music Initiative Ensemble, Soulmate, Sam Amidon, Padmini Rao, Lisa Hannigan and the Shillong Chamber Choir, among others.

Musical performances will take place at the Front Lawns at Diggi Palace in the mornings, and at the Music Stage at Hotel Clarks Amer in the evening. The morning performances will take place everyday between 9am-9:45am; and 7pm-8pm every evening. The evening performances are ticketed and you can buy either daily passes for 400 or for all 4 days for 1,200 at music.jaipurliteraturefestival.org.

That’s not all. Rajasthan Tourism will be organising two Heritage Evenings at the Amber Fort and Hawa Mahal on the evenings of January 20 and 21, bringing together arts and culture and built heritage. Rhythm and Rhyme at Amber Fort on the evening of January 20 will feature poetry readings and sarod recital by Ustad Amjad Ali Khan while writer and musician Vidya Shah will present an evening on the changing face of cultural entertainment called Mujra Se Multiplex Tak at Hawa Mahal on the evening of January 21.
