Good thing New Delhi and Bengaluru’s airports upgraded when they did, for they get to be among the world’s first five airports to greet the world’s longest passenger jet. The Boeing 747-8 Intercontinental’s inaugural flight from Frankfurt to Washington DC is slated for June 1, 2012. The double-decker craft is 250.3 feet long and has a 225-foot wing span. Lufthansa’s 747-8 fleet, which will consist of 20 aircraft, will also fly to Los Angeles and Chicago O’Hare, as well as the two Indian airports, later this year.
