Lavasa City near Pune, Maharashtra, is playing host to Worldfest 2014, from December 17 to 21. As the name indicates, this is an international festival – 10 participating countries will showcase their art, dance, music and cuisine. They are Brazil, Egypt, Ethiopia, Lithuania, Maldives, Nigeria, Poland, Slovenia, Sri Lanka and Thailand. The event is being organised by Ferriswheel Entertainment. This is the third edition of the Worldfest; the previous years’ events have been attended by more than 75,000 people. Shubhra Bhardwaj, founder and creative director of Ferriswheel, said that the festival was meant to create “a community of enthusiastic travellers who are aware, intrigued and want to go that extra mile to connect with like-minded people everywhere”. This year’s highlight is a food festival and a dedicated music stage. More details at www.worldfestindia.com.
