OT: Which is your favourite hotel in the world?
Rohit Sharma: That would have to
OT: So the outdoors were more fun than staying in?
Rohit Sharma: Well, the suite had a view of the ocean that I could wake up to every day! It had an incredible balcony. But yes, the weather was amazing! They have this huge private white-sand beach, plus two pools, including an infinity pool with lounge chairs in the water. They have a great range of water sports too — kayaking, glass-boat rides, snorkelling, banana boats, parasailing… And they have the nicest bar, right by the sea.
OT: Indoor highlights to match?
Rohit Sharma: They have restaurants with every cuisine you could ask for and, I’m not kidding, I had the best Indian food there. They have an Italian restaurant where I had the most tasty spaghetti — tomato basil. Sounds simple, but you’ve got to try it to see what I mean. Their sushi was exquisite. The salmon sashimi was one of the best I’ve had. If you’re a fan of massages, I would highly recommend the chocolate massage too.
OT: So there’s something for everyone?
Rohit Sharma: Yes! It’s a great getaway for both couples and families. The hotel staff are so warm. The property is so big and so beautiful, it truly has a little of everything. A week really wasn’t enough. Mauritius is mistaken as mostly a couples retreat, but I’d honestly love to take a family trip to Long Beach.
