When I entered the restaurant I could feel the Mexican vibe. The murals on the restaurant
We started our meal with tortilla and creamy guacamole dip along with lemon chia juice. The guacamole was freshly made in front of us by Chef Mauro Mendez. One of the great things about LA Bodega is that most ingredients, from sauces to tortillas, are prepared in-house. Next, we were served a palette of assortments including a camaron salteado (crispy shrimp tostada), a ceviche de atún (fresh tuna seasoned with green apple, ginger, lemon & cilantro), a tinga de pollo (pulled chicken quesadilla). This was paired with a margarita. The shrimp tostada was spicy and tangy and had a smoky after-taste, quite delicious. The other two didn’t quite blow my mind. Then came frijol, a black bean soup topped with tortilla chips, sour cream and fresh cheese which did help in cutting the tanginess of the tostada.
The restaurant is cozy and charming, and I certainly enjoyed the ambience. La Bodega’s experimental menu changes every three months and the restaurant also offers weekend specials.
