Passengers travelling on AC III coaches on the Indian Railways will soon be able to enjoy much better amenities on their journey. According to news reports, the new coaches will boast of improved facilities such as a GPS-enabled passenger information system above each coach door, odour-control systems in the toilets, CCTV cameras in the aisles and a tea and coffee vending machine in each coach. The Humsafar service, as it is called, will be put into place in 4 trains to begin with. The first of these will run between Delhi and Gorakhpur in UP. The new coaches have been designed by the Rail Coach Factory in Rae Bareli.
