Madhya Pradesh sits in the north-western part of the Deccan Plateau and has more than thirty percent of its land under forest cover. Numerous rivers, including the Narmada, Son, Chambal, Tamas, and Tapti flow through the state. The state has nine national parks with Kanha being the largest. Each park is different in terms of the flora and fauna inside it. While Kanha National Park has a mix of open meadows and sal trees, Bandhavgarh is mostly covered with sal and bamboo. The fresh earthy scent of lush green forests after the monsoon is refreshing.
