Satpura National Park is a sanctuary of great ecological importance that is situated within the Pachmarhi Biosphere Reserve. It is a protected area that is home to a wide range of flora and fauna, including endangered species such as the Indian wild dog, the Indian giant squirrel, and the sloth bear. Satpura National Park Safari
The Satpura National Park has two well-known entrance gates, the Madai gate and the Panarpani gate, from where the safari begins. The safari zones are named after these gates. The Madhai and Panarpani zones are the primary safari zones, while the Jamanidev and Parsapani zones are buffer safari zones. If you are staying at resorts near the Madhai gate, you can go on safaris in theMadhaii, Parsapani, and Jamanidev zones. During these safaris, you may catch a glimpse of Indian bison, tigers, leopards, and striped hyenas.
Denwa River Boating
The Denwa River is the primary river that flows through the Satpura National Park, with the Son River as the secondary water source. The Denwa River is referred to as the lifeline of the Satpura Tiger Reserve, highlighting its importance. Tourists who embark on a jungle safari from the Madhai entrance gate can cross this river. While boating, birders can spot a wide variety of migratory species that can be spotted around the water bodies. Additionally, you can also take a boat cruise from Tawa Dam to Satpura.
Churna Safari
The Churna forest is located in the core zone of Satpura, covering the western part of the tiger reserve. It can be accessed through the Madhai and Bheemkund entry gates. As a critical tiger habitat, the probability of spotting tigers here is relatively high. As a result, wildlife photographers and enthusiasts often visit the area. In addition to tigers, you may also be able to catch glimpses of spotted deer, sambar, and crocodiles. The Madhai gate is located in the northern part of Satpura, while the Churna forest is in the western region. During your 12-kilometre safari drive through the buffer forest on your way to the Podar gate, you may also have the opportunity for bird-watching. Landmarks within the core zone include Dodalpani and Gutti Baba Temple.
