With its array of ancient temples, Khajuraho is no doubt a tourist draw with a number of accommodation options. One of the most comfortable among these is the stylish Syna Heritage Hotel, which is an easy 500m from the Western group of temples. Although it bears the ‘heritage’ look, the 4-star hotel is not actually an old property. As you enter the grounds, the first thing that strikes you is the generosity of space. Beautifully laid-out and well- maintained gardens greet you. The rooms are large and plush with thick woolly carpets that your feet will love sinking into. The corridors, the lobby and other sitting areas incorporate a lot of interesting artwork – some calling on the quintessential rural art styles of Madhya Pradesh, while some could undoubtedly be classified as modern art.
The multi-cuisine restaurant, Kama, sits at the back of the hotel, abutting the lawn and the hotel’s own little artefacts shop. The menu covers Indian and Continental cuisine, and the service is particularly attentive. The hotel’s concierge will organise trips not only to the temples of Khajuraho but also jeep safaris to Panna and excursions to Raneh and Pandav Falls as well as Ajaigarh Fort. As you take a morning walk around the gardens, don’t miss the hotel’s wonderful collection of vintage cars!
